Experience and Education

• Licensed by the Texas Supreme Court in 1985.
• J.D. Texas Tech University School of Law; May 1985
• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston; May 1982

Areas of Practice

• Extensive litigation experience in complex product liability claims; commercial and business litigation claims;
• insurance  litigation and probate claims as well as experience with family law and mediation services;
• Criminal law experience serving Henderson County as an Elected prosecutor.

Family History and Legacy

James’ parents grew up in Frankston and he was born in Jacksonville, Texas.  His family moved to Pasadena when he was 2 weeks old and he attended K-12 schools in the Pasadena Independent School District. After graduation he attended the University of Houston where he studied Chemical Engineering and thereafter, attended Texas Tech University School of Law.

He is married to Laura Simmons Owen and they have 6 children and two grandchildren.
